Croatia Airlines selects Rockwell Collins HGS®
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 20, 2008) - Croatia Airlines has selected Rockwell Collins to provide its HGS® Head-up Guidance System for installation on Croatia's fleet of four Bombardier Q400 regional aircraft plus two aircraft options.
"Rockwell Collins' HGS technology provides safety and economic benefits by enabling Croatia Airlines to complete flights in
low-visibility conditions," said Dave Austin, Senior Director of Head-up Guidance Systems for Rockwell Collins. "The improved
flight path control and situational awareness provided by our HGS are important for Croatia Airlines' operations."
"We have selected our new Q400's with the Rockwell Collins' HGS technology. The Category III capability will allow us to avoid
any cancellation or delays due to low visibility operations that are frequently present on several of our destinations during
the winter season." said Vanja Roller, Executive Vice President for Maintenance and Engineering in Croatia Airlines.
Rockwell Collins offers the only Head-Up Display (HUD) for the Q400; which is the sole Category III solution offered on the
aircraft and expands the operational capability of the Q400, allowing Category III approach and landing down to 600 ft / 200
M Runway Visual Range (RVR), low-visibility takeoff down to 300 ft / 75 M RVR and lower-than-standard Category I approach
minima as low as 1600 ft/ 450 M RVR.
