Oman Air selects Rockwell Collins Airshow 4200D for A330 fleet
LONG BEACH, Calif. (September 10, 2008) - Oman Air has selected Rockwell Collins to provide its Airshow 4200D Moving Map and Flight Information System for seven of
the airline's Airbus 330 fleet. The first aircraft will be delivered in August 2009.
"Airshow 4200D will connect Oman Air's passengers to the world by giving them the ability to track their flight on high definition
maps in digital widescreen formats," said Barry Brown, vice president, Commercial at Oman Air.
"Our latest generation Airshow 4200D continues to be successful with its value proposition - to provide passengers with real-time
information about their flights with the highest level of product reliability," said Tommy Dodson, vice president and general
manager of Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins.
Rockwell Collins AS-4200D provides enhanced clarity and resolution with sharper detail and more vibrant colors. It has been
optimized for in-seat and overhead digital displays and has native digital image generation, without the limitations of analog-to-digital
conversion.
It also offers features such as Dual Independent Digital Audio/Video outputs, native 16:9 Widescreen display, integrated IFE
system control over Ethernet, A380 compatibility for Flight Data over Ethernet and IFE system Ethernet link for data connectivity.
The system's 3-D Map application is a major advancement in features, functionality, and look-and-feel over previous map products
providing a full-featured multimedia platform, incorporating a wide variety of media capabilities and 3-D graphic displays.
This is accomplished by using dedicated 3-D graphics video hardware, and the Windows DirectX API.
The AS-4200D is designed for customization flexibility and automation resulting in minimal or no impact on flight attendant
workload.
